AUBURN — The third installment of Comedy Fix, a stand-up comedy fundraising series, will take place Friday, Dec. 14, at the Auburn Fireside Inn. All net proceeds will benefit Good Shepherd Food Bank, with a food drive to be held the night of show.
Performers include veteran Portland area comedians Dee Turcotte, Gwen Tuttle, Joe Timmins, Will Green and Paul Hunt. Comedy Fix founder Mark Turcotte will host. Green was a semi-finalist in this year’s Maine’s Funniest Comic Search. Hunt, who appeared on NBC’s Last Comic Standing, was named Maine’s Funniest Comic in 2008.
With two sold-out shows, Comedy Fix raised $1,200 for the Patrick Dempsey Center for Cancer Hope & Healing and $1,585 for the Maine chapter of the National Alliance on Mental Illness.
"The comics and the community have been so supportive of this series," Turcotte said. “The shows are full of positive energy and at the end of the night, we’re able to make a significant contribution to those in need.”
For the food drive, Good Shepherd Food Bank is requesting staple food items such as canned fruits and vegetables, tuna fish, beans, soups, pasta, sauces and peanut butter and jelly. Cash donations are also welcome. Every $1 donation can provide four meals for Maine’s hungry. Based in Auburn, Good Shepherd Food Bank serves all 16 counties in Maine, from Kittery to Fort Kent.
The show will begin at 8 p.m. Doors open at 7 o'clock. For general admission tickets, $8, visit www.comedyfixlive.com. If available, tickets will be sold at the door. The show is for ages 21-plus. The Fireside is at 1777 Washington St. For more information, call 513-0742 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
