BOOK NOOK
Harpswell author and activist Dave Wilkinson announced the release of his latest novel, "Mr. Hemphill" which is an unusual story for kids from sixth grade upward that presents an alternative perspective on the often misunderstood plant commonly known as marijuana.
“As society moves toward legalization, people need to look at the forbidden species from a biological, agricultural and historical point of view,” Wilkinson said. “Children in particular need to know the facts if they are going to make intelligent choices.”
Wilkinson wrote the Starks, Maine Ordinances in 1992 calling for the allowance of the cultivation and possession of up to two pounds of cannabis per person. It was the only officially recorded vote to fully legalize marijuana in United States history until the Colorado and Washington votes of 2012.
“With these historic votes, it seemed the right time to release "Mr. Hemphill," a work I have withheld from publication for 20 years,” he said.
"Mr. Hemphill" will be available online at Amazon.com, at selected stores and from the website www.createspace.com/4105567.
