Art and Ale exhibit features Greg Waters

'Lady of the Wind' is a charcoal drawing by Greg Waters.

AUBURN — An exhibit of the work of Gregory K. Waters including charcoal, pastel, acrylic and oil paintings and drawings can be viewed at Gritty’s Art and Ale Gallery at 68 Main St. Water’s work ranges from winter landscapes and tidal waves to surrealist illustrations and drawings. Waters was introduced to art at a very young age. He began sketching with pencil, ink and charcoal, followed by oil.

While working at a pizza shop, Waters gathered his art portfolio and presented it to a professional tattoo shop. By 2005, he began a career in tattooing where he learned the history, meaning and culture of tattoos. In 2009, he was able to enhance realism with both oil and acrylic paints. Finding joy in the ordinary, Waters has built a strong composition of places visited, both real and imagined.

Some of the activities that inspire Waters include sailing, hiking, fishing and hunting. He enjoys spending time at the beach. His love for anything “outside the box” has been the most influential tool in becoming the artist he is today.

Waters shared his work in the Gritty’s Art and Ale exhibit in 2011 and 2012 and is back this year with more inspirational elements.
