STARKS — The Turner Templeton Duo will perform as part of the Community Concert series at 7 p.m. Saturday, March 9 at Starks Church, 11 Locke Hill Road.
The duo will play in an old-time, Americana, bluegrass style with a mix of some jazz, old-time classics, and their own original music.
Member Thomas Kenneth Stevens plays rhythm on six-string banjo and resonator in a solid and percussion style. He has a raspy, bluesy singing voice and has been compared to Leon Russel, Dr. Jon and ZZ top's Billy Gibbons. This crumbly sound goes perfectly with member Joe Hodgkins on guitar and lending his steady vocals and precise melodic lead work to the duo's sound.
A free community dinner will take place before the concert at 6 p.m. in Memorial Hall next to the church.
Donations will be collected to benefit the Sparrow Song Theater 2013 Season.
