FARMINGTON — The Franklin County Chamber of Commerce's 19th annual Home and Leisure Show returns to Mt. Blue High School on Saturday.
The show planned from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. March 16 offers 40 booths, demonstrations, food vendors and entertainment, Marc Relford, interim director, said. Admission is $1.
"We are pleased to be hosting this signature event at the new Mt. Blue campus. I think it will prove to be a fantastic venue," Glenn Kapiloff, the chamber's committee chairman for the event, said in a statement.
Businesses and organizations from around the county, including a car dealer, the CareerCenter, the Franklin County Health Network/Franklin Memorial Hospital, banks, educational institutions, building suppliers, media, Realtors and florists will participate.
Demonstrations include one by a police dog at 9:30 a.m., Relford said. NorthStar ambulance also plans an outdoor presentation.
Food vendors, including Bradley's Pizza and a cheerleaders' bake sale, will be on site.
In celebration of the 100th anniversary of 4-H, local clubs will celebrate with a cake decorating contest at the show. Cakes will be displayed starting at 9 a.m. and be judged by the show crowd. They will receive a ballot and ticket they can deposit at the chamber's booth for a chance at a $50 door prize. Starting at 1 p.m., the children's cakes can be sampled.
A couple of musical acts will appear but chamber members were still working on details Wednesday, Relford said.
Along with the activities, the show has some unique door prizes to offer.
Electricity Maine will provide free electricity for one month. Rustic Roots Farm, a new business opening in Farmington this spring, provided a four-week farm share. Both are new chamber members, he said.
Expenet of Wilton put up a free computer rebuild, valued at $100. Skye Theater in Carthage provided vouchers for shows and Western Maine Storytelling Festival also provided a couple vouchers, he said.
