Rangeley Loppet cross-country ski race is on

RANGELEY — Organizers of the TD Bank Rangeley Loppet said the annual marathon Nordic race will go on as scheduled Saturday, March 3, at the Rangeley Lakes Trails Center. The center is looking for volunteers to help.

The Loppet had been on hold earlier in the season but with a long-range forecast that is calling for some good snow, they are confident that conditions will be just fine to hold this legendary race, Carol Sullivan said in an email.

It is part of the marathon series of Nordic races sponsored by New England Nordic Ski Association with major sponsorship from L.L. Bean and TD Bank.

There will be an 18k and 48k course length available, according to the Trails Center website www.xcskirangeley.com/Loppet

The Trails Center is looking for volunteers to help serve soup, work at the start/finish lines, as well as be out on the course at refreshment stations, Sullivan wrote.

Please contact the staff at the yurt lodge to assist in any capacity on March 3, call 864-4309 or email to rlxcski@gmail.com.
