A Farmington police team Caton's Crew won a game of kickball Saturday at Hippach Field in Farmington. The Kick-It game was organized as a fundraiser for children's cancer research. With the bases loaded, Mary Hastings pitches a ball toward a player on a team organized by Jennifer Chretien.

The funds, matched by race car driver Jeff Gordon, are used to help find a cure for childhood cancer.

A Farmington police team, Caton's Crew, won the Kick-It program game, 3-2, in an extra inning against a team organized by Jennifer Chretien of Farmington.

Chretien, an avid fan of NASCAR, learned Gordon was offering to match funds raised on behalf of his foundation's Kick-It program during September. This month is Childhood Cancer Awareness.

The Kick-It program was started by a 10-year-old cancer patient from Cleveland who wanted to cure cancer by playing kickball. Started in 2009, the program has nationally raised $800,000.

The University Credit Union purchased the balls for the game and Hannaford donated water, Chretien said.

I want to thank everyone who

I want to thank everyone who helped make this event a success; all who played, donated, and came to watch. We had a lot of fun and raised a lot of money. I spoken to Kick-It and the Jeff Gordon Children's Foundation and they are very grateful for all we did to help fight childhood cancer. THANK-YOU!!!
