FARMINGTON — A group of parents are fundraising to buy gold ball rings for the Mt. Blue High School varsity football team members. The team won the Class B state championship Nov. 17.
An account has been set up at Franklin Savings Bank under the name of MBHS Gold Ball Rings. Businesses and members of the community who wish to help commemorate the team's win with championship rings may do so by going to Franklin Savings Bank and making a donation. Also, people may mail a check made out to MBHS Gold Ball Rings, and send it to MBHS Gold Ball Rings c/o Chanda Luker, Farmington Travel, 125 Broadway, Farmington, ME 04938.
The tradition has been that teams that make it this far are given something in recognition of the team's efforts. In the 1970s and '80s, they were given lettermen jackets, and in 2005 they received PTC Championship rings, Betsey Hyde, a parent, said in a release.
For more information, call Hyde at 778-0404.
