Oven mitt catches fire in school kitchen

Donna M. Perry/Sun Journal

Seven firefighters and two firetrucks from Farmington Fire Rescue Department responded to a report of a fire Thursday in the kitchen at Mt. Blue High School in Farmington. Fire Chief Terry Bell said an oven mitt dropped behind a stove and caught fire. Kitchen staff had the fire out before firefighters arrived. Bell said firefighters investigated. Mt. Blue Principal Monique Poulin, right, talks on a mobile radio outside the school. "We're safe," she said. Students left the building briefly.
