Jay woman indicted on marijuana charge

FARMINGTON — A Franklin County grand jury indicted a Jay woman Wednesday on a charge of selling marijuana at her house on Church Street.

Cindy Mitchell, 53, was indicted on one count each of aggravated trafficking in marijuana and criminal forfeiture.

An investigation led to Mitchell's arrest, Jay Detective Richard Caton IV said in September 2012. The charge was elevated because Mitchell's home was within 1,000 feet of the Church Street Playground, he previously said.

Jay police seized more than 6 ounces of bagged marijuana, drug paraphernalia, including scales, and about $2,900 in cash, Caton said at the time.
