NEW SHARON — Voters will consider electing a selectman, a road commissioner and an RSU 9 school director at the annual town meeting at 9 a.m. Saturday, March 2, at the Cape Cod Hill School.
New Sharon elects its officials from the floor of the town meeting.
Selectman Forrest Bonney's term is up this year, Town Clerk Rose Mary McCormick said.
Bonney completed a term formerly held by Larry Donald who resigned during a town meeting in 2011 when voters attempted to reduce selectmen's pay.
The selectman term is for three years, she said.
Another position to be elected is road commissioner, which is a one-year term, currently held by Donald Lowe.
RSU 9 Director William “Bill” Reid's term on the School Board is also up for election.
After voters finish electing people to represent them, they will have 47 more articles to contend with.
Among the articles is one asking voters to consider transferring $6,800 from the Fire Station Reserve Fund to replace floors at the fire station. Selectmen recommend the article be approved.
Residents will also be asked to transfer money from the surplus account to help reduce taxes. Selectmen recommend $50,000.
Another request is to see if voters will raise and appropriate $5,200 to buy the Trio Motor Vehicle registration software. Selectmen recommend raising $5,200 by taxation.
