AUBURN — A Mass of Christian Burial honoring the life of Laurent "Larry" E. Veilleux was celebrated by the Reverend Richard McLaughlin Friday morning at Sacred Heart Church of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish.
During the Mass the Old Testament reading was proclaimed by Larry's granddaughter Michelle Veilleux. The Prayer of the Faithful was recited by his grandson Patrick Shea. The offertory gifts were brought to the altar by his grandchildren Marianne and Michael Veilleux, and words of remembrance were shared by his grandson Joshua Shea.
Following a procession to Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Augusta, Captain Wingelt, a chaplain for the Maine Veteran's Honors program recited committal prayers followed by the military honor detail playing Taps and presenting our country's flag to Larry's son, Gary Veilleux, in recognition of his father's service in the United States Navy during World War II.
The pallbearers were all grandchildren of Larry that included Michelle, Marianne, and Michael Veilleux as well as Joshua and Patrick Shea and Timothy Sawyer. Arrangements by Pinette & Lynch Funeral Home, Lewiston.
