S. LaBrie: They all want money

Most people have received mail asking for contributions to various organizations or a fund-raising campaign. Such organizations say donations are all for a good cause. It still comes down to the fact that they want our money.

Senior citizens living on Social Security get their checks once a month and have to stay on a tight budget to make it through to the end of the month. Many seniors would have to go without in order to contribute money to others, though they need it.

Mail asking for donations is even sent to people who have died. That is rather sad.

We try to give from the heart, even if it means short-changing our own budgets.

True Shirley.

Before I retired I gladly helped support many charities with generous donations. Now it breaks my heart to not be financially able to help every charity asking for a helping hand. I rarely carry cash as I do all my shopping with my debit card and it really bothers me to have to say "I sorry" to the folks at the Wall Mart entrance, many times I use a side entrance to avoid the embarrassment.
Most of us seniors have been giving for 50 years, now there's nothing left to give except an apology. So's life.

Seniors and the disabled give

Seniors and the disabled give more than their fair share to charities. The wealthy, while number may be greater, give a much smaller percentage of their wealth to charity. Why? Because they don't care, and are willing to give up any of their luxuries to help their fellow citizens. The will live well on this earth, but they'll get their punishment in the afterlife.
