If President Barack Obama is re-elected for another four years, Americans will need to stockpile dried and non-perishable food to feed families. It will be important to grow and harvest as much as possible to prepare for the inevitable increase in the cost of living. Gasoline and heating oil prices will escalate again after the elections.
Furthermore, Obama has mentioned cutting benefits such as Medicare and Social Security, and only God knows what else he has in mind to cause more hardship for Americans, young and old; especially the senior citizens and those already in poverty.
Soon, voters will need to decide if they want four more years of another downfall in the economy by re-electing Obama. Looking back, I am sure America wasn't on the verge of a total failure when a Republican was president. However, if Mitt Romney, the Republican candidate, wins the election, there is an element of doubt.
It will be extremely difficult to decide who to elect for president. The choices are President Obama and Romney, unless voters choose to write in someone.
I hope and pray that after the outcome of the 2012 election, the president-elect will begin the next four years by energizing America back to a solvency mode and that he will gain control of foreign affairs and the uncertainties beyond.
Robert Lacombe, Sabattus

When will Americans make the least effort to be informed
1. "Gasoline and heating oil prices will escalate again after the elections." The occupant of the White House and/or Federal policies have no effect on the supply or demand of oil and therefore no impact on the price of anything made from it. Remember, Prices set records still held by President Bush.
2. "Obama has mentioned cutting benefits such as Medicare and Social Security..." Obama has never mentioned any such thing. Obama has proposed that medicare costs be reduced by cutting re-impursements to providers not beneficiaries. The Republicans, lead by Romney and many others, have proposed to eliminate Medicare entirely, give beneficiaries a $6000 voucher to buy private insurance which now doesn't cover half the cost of insurance. Those vouchers can be changed at the whim of the Republicans. President Bush proposed eliminating Social Security entirely which has been a Republican goal since the 1930's.
3. With Romney there is endless doubt. His first day ads say that he will cut taxes and cut federal spending by trillions. The tax cuts will add $5 trillion to the national debt, delay a balanced budget until past 2040. Romney himself said recently that cutting Federal spending will cut the GDP (Gross Domestic Product or size of the economy) by 5% and usher in an new Great Depression. Its a program that has already failed in Europe.
But Bob's conclusion is correct. We must elect as President a man who will energize the US economy by rejecting austerity, by stimulating economic growth, by increasing government employment by hundreds of thousands as the last three Republican Presidents who created major recessions did and give him a Congress that will work to fix the Nation's problems not to defeat a President they lost to. That President is Obama a man who speaks for most of us not Romney who speaks only for the richest 1%.

Other things Obama will do:
If Obama's health care law is found unconstitutional, he will rectify that: It wont be unconstitutional to provide healthcare to Mexican's in Mexico. He will pay for this by putting a tax on American flag sales.
Spanish will be the official language of the United States
Homosexuals will not only be allowed to marry, they will have to approve of every marriage.
Obama will use the The Large Hadron Collider to open a black hole as the ultimate terrorist attack. He will get his 40 virgins.

There has been a serious lack of these "bunker" letters recently, which is too bad because I think they're hilarious. Thanks for making my day Robert. Also, don't forget to wear your tinfoil hat!! The aliens are listening!

most mainers stock pile food stuffs anyway because winters in maine............are really tough. we knit because we have to do something when the power goes out for days at a time because of storms. we jar, can, and make preserves because it is crafty and we hate to throw away perfectly good veggies, especially after all that work in the garden. many already have alternative sources of heating because home heating oil has been overpriced for years. we hunt and fish and actually eat the animal (i still have moose meat in my freezer, no beef tho). we know our neighbors, and keep an eye on each other. while this isn't true about every mainer, and may only be true to degrees of others, washington dc is a very long way away and most of us can live just as well without it as with it.

"I am sure America wasn't on the verge of a total failure when a Republican was president." You're sure? Really sure? Where were you four years ago, and who was Pres? You must've missed the collapse of our economy due to GOP ideology.

When you enter the voting booth and close the curtain remember that virtually every bill introduced by Dems. to stimulate the economy was shot down by Reps. while offering no plans of their own. Their one and only mission has been to make Obama a one term POTUS no matter what while taking care of America's business has taken a back seat.
While casting your vote try to remember every time BONER and McConnell appeared on TV to give their lame excuses for shooting down Dem. sponsored bills, but not once coming up with anything of their own to improve the economy.
This Tea Bag party has done nothing for our country but put Washington in total gridlock. They are the party of "saying no" while offering nothing to move our country forward. This is why Snow now hates her job. Think about that while your filling in the arrow.

The Tea Party has very little power in DC, but it's a convenient target for lefties who run out of coherent statements. It's sort of like racism is for Riml. See below.

Obvious target more like it. And laughable at that. So many of them shoot themselves in the foot. It's sort of like packing a piece and not being able to get it out of the holster when they pull the trigger.

Riml observed the effects of 'racism' of in a very racially diverse city for twenty years while working as a Cop. You didn't successfully perform in such a career with the attitude LeBlanc alleges. But you do learn to recognize it.
While LeBlanc gets to imagine it in the 'Whitest' state in the Union. -http://abcnews.go.com/US/story?id=93608&page=1#.T9SzDtVDzAk
