Last year, the Red Sox were the best team in baseball for much of the year. The second half can be summed up with two words — beer and chicken. Sorry, as a true fan of the Sox, it is still difficult to talk about the collapse of last season.
There have been some good moments — the 100-year celebration that the owners put on earlier in the season was impressive (they had to give fans something to cheer about).
I haven't figured out what the problems are with this year's team but I don't think you can blame their lack of performance on injuries.
They can't seem to achieve a winning record at Fenway, which is very unusual, or much of a winning record away, either. They will play some really good games, then play some atrocious ones. Back and forth; back and forth.
They are getting paid way too much money to be sub-par, again.
Come on, Red Sox, get things going and don't embarrass me the rest of the year. I am a fan who gets her nails done in Red Sox colors when I attend our family Red Sox game at Fenway. Please give me something to cheer about the rest of this season.

Think of them as a big machine...
If you think of the Red Sox as a large machine, it almost makes sense. Last year the machine was running fine until the second half of the season, as sometimes happens one component or several malfunctioned. As is usually the case, someone decided that rather than fix the machine with replacement parts. Newer and more modern parts would work better. That's not always the case. Once the new components are applied, there comes a long period of tweeking and adjusting. You go thru a period of running smooth, then strange noises come out of the machine. Given enough time and tweeking, the machine will run like new, you just need to be patient....
