M. Gill: Important issues for Dixfield

The town of Dixfield will be voting on two issues that will have a long-term effect on the community. It is time for the citizens of Dixfield to make the final decision on both issues. It is important that all citizens make every effort to go to the polls and vote. Every vote is important and will give direction for the selectmen.

The first issue is a vote on the pro-wind power ordinance. Those people in favor of wind power in Dixfield should vote yes. Those who are opposed to wind power in Dixfield should vote no.

The second issue is the withdrawal of Dixfield from RSU 10. Those people favoring withdrawal from RSU 10 should vote yes. People opposed to withdrawal from RSU 10 should vote no.

As a selectman, I pledge to honor the outcome of this election and make every effort to see that the will of the people is carried out.

Malcolm Gill, Dixfield

Neither should be on the ballot

The wind ordinance is not ready. Who says so - the Town's attonerys. Fundamental changes in the ordinance are necessary. How can anyone make a decision on a defective ordinance. Now had they put on the ballot a question to give the selectmen direction they apparently need, OK.
Withdrawal from RSU 10 is dumb. Spending $50,000 to find out its dumb is dumber. Waste of money; waste of ink.

Vote

"Should the ordinance pass, the technical changes will be made and presented to the citizens for a vote" so this would not be a final vote no matter what we vote we must vote again !!! what you said in Rumford falls times Letter at http://www.rumfordfallstimes.com/opinion/story/05gilllte44

you forgot

to tell them the 10 year budget line of Dixfield 's tax base (with and without the turbines) and the 10 year base line of RSU withdrawal. OH, that's right no town has done that yet.....

Mike Roger's of Maine Revenue has laid out some static 10 year plans and they all show a decline by year 4 when the state and county taxes go up and your revenue sharing goes down. And the turbines are depreciated.

So folks of Dixfield......vote NO on ordinance. It is not ready

Vote NO for $50,000 expenditure to study RSU 10 pull-out.

Instead, have Dr. Tom Ward do some 10 year plans for the towns in RSU 10.

vote Mitchell for the truths.

Yeah, just like when the

Yeah, just like when the townspeople voted the sewer loan down, only to have the selectboard call for a special town meeting with very little attendance and they got the loan vote reversed. Wish we could trust you, Malcolm.
