S. Trask: Gets things done

I am writing in support of Bettyann Sheats, who is a candidate for House District 68.

I have always known her to be an articulate, committed member of the community who is passionate about protecting the environment. She is also someone who gets things done.

For example, just recently, she has been working as a member of a subcommittee of the Taylor Pond Association, which is looking into drainage issues in the Taylor Pond watershed. She encouraged the group to look beyond the immediate surroundings of the lake. From that perspective, she called the city of Auburn to inquire about the culvert under Stevens Mills Road, which helps to direct drainage water downstream of Taylor Pond. The city engineers discovered a badly eroded culvert, and are, at the moment I write this letter, repairing it.

That is exactly the kind of follow-through and action I expect in a legislator.
