W. Lutz: A lesson in responsibility

Let the country go over the fiscal cliff. The lies about the end of the world if the United States goes over the cliff are nothing more than jokes.

The left wants it to happen so more people are dependent on government and are scared if they lose the entitlements that they have paid or not paid into. Well, there are more people getting benefits than there are people paying in. Their philosophy is to mess with the people who have to work for their money and take more from them.

That sounds like envy: I don't have it and you do, so you should give more so I have more.

I have worked for what I have in life without demanding that someone else be responsible for taking care of me. I learned from my parents, who grew up during the Great Depression, that a person is responsible for himself and his family, not the government.

I wish people would get more backbone and say the same. It is all about self-responsibility.

Mr. Woodbury; Are you telling

Mr. Woodbury;
Are you telling us that you would rather have us, the people who have never taken a handout, who work and have worked since we were 12 years old, who have made our living the old fashioned way, who have provided for our families, our elders, our children and our retired years ON OUR OWN, provide for the indigent, drunks, drug abusers, and freeloaders that refuse to get a job for the rest of their lives? Whatever happened to the idea of personal responsibility. When I see EBT cards being used to buy expensive things like booze and cigarettes and fast food from convenience stores at ridiculous prices, I am ready to scream. These people have no values and you, Mr. Woodbury, and your ilk are enabling them. When the takers outnumber the givers, our precious way of life is doomed.
