Gray man suffers serious injuries in Sunday crash

A Gray man was listed in satisfactory condition Monday after his motorcycle collided with an SUV on Sunday night at the Route 26A bypass and Shaker Road in Gray, authorities said.

Donald Bilodeau, 58, was taken to Maine Medical Center in Portland with injuries to his lower extremities, a spokesman for the Cumberland County Sheriff's Department said.

Bilodeau was northbound on Route 26A at about 9:42 p.m. Sunday on a 1995 Honda motorcycle. Claudia Raessler, 63, of North Yarmouth was southbound on Shaker Road in a 2011 Honda CR-V SUV when she tried to turn left onto Route 26 and didn't see Bilodeau, Capt. Shawn O'Leary wrote in a press release.

The crash was under investigation Monday. O'Leary said alcohol was not considered to be a factor in the crash at that time.

Bilodeau's injuries were treated by Gray Fire Department and EMS and were not considered to be life-threatening, O'Leary wrote.
