POLAND — Police on Wednesday released a sketch of a suspect being sought for attempting to abduct an employee at Range Pond State Park on Saturday.
For days, investigators from the Androscoggin County Sheriff's Office and other agencies have been looking for a 1980s rust-colored van said to be driven by the suspect.
Sheriff's deputies said the female employee was working at the booth at the state park at about 2:40 p.m. Saturday when she was approached by the man driving the van. He attempted unsuccessfully to pull her into the van and fled the area, police said.
The van is described as rust or orange and brown with square headlights and tinted rear windows. The van had no rear license plate and a paper decal was covering the front registration plate.
The driver was described as a skinny white male, 40 years old or older, with a big nose. He was described as between 175-190 pounds with short, curly hair.
Anyone with information is asked to call Detective Kevin Nichols at 753-2567 or the ASO at 753-2599.
