AUBURN — A man was seriously injured late Friday night after he was struck by a truck, possibly after falling from the train trestle over Turner Street.

A witness said the driver of the truck fled the scene.
The name of the victim was not immediately available.
A witness said the man looked to be in his late 20s and that he appeared to have suffered numerous injuries.
Adam Fasano was walking home from work and was nearing Great Falls Plaza when he heard a thud from Turner Street, near the overpass.
"It was like a loud crack, like maybe his ribs had broken," he said. "The driver of the truck just kept on going. He didn't even hesitate."
Fasano said he rushed to the wounded man and found him unconscious in the street, battered and barely breathing. The man's hip appeared to be disjointed, Fasano said.
What remained unclear was how the victim ended up in the street before he was struck. Other witnesses said it appeared the man had toppled from the train trestle that crosses the street roughly 15 feet overhead.
As rescue crews tended to the man and took him to a Lewiston hospital, police were examining the street and the trestle above it.
Witnesses gave police a description of the truck that had struck the man. Fasano said it looked like an almost-new tan pickup.
"I wish I had a better description," he said. "But my eyes aren't good in the dark. It kind of shook me up."
The trestle has been the scene of deadly falls in the past. One man died after stumbling to the street below in the 1990s. The area is frequently used as a shortcut for people crossing from the wooded area known as West Pitch.
