Lewiston library has the force Saturday

Russ Dillingham/Sun Journal

With his face painted like Darth Maul and Yoda ears that he made, Thomas Tarantino of Mechanic Falls uses the light saber he also made during Saturday's Star Wars Reads Day to duel Stephen Simonds, of Kittery at the Lewiston Public Library. Simonds and several others from the Maine chapter of the Mandalorian Mercenaries, an international Star Wars costuming organization dedicated to raising money for charities and families in need, took part in Saturday's event that also featured Star Wars movies on a big screen, a costume contest and plenty of Star Wars books for kids to take home and read.
