USM LAC to host legislative candidate forum Oct. 24

LEWISTON — Residents of Androscoggin County will have a chance to meet their legislative candidates Wednesday, Oct. 24, when the University of Southern Maine’s Lewiston-Auburn College hosts a state Legislature candidate forum.

All state legislative candidates whose districts are completely or partly in Androscoggin County have been invited to participate. Each will address what they think are the key issues that face higher education in the state of Maine and how they propose to address the issues as a state legislator.

Following their presentations the candidates will answer questions from the audience.

The event will give candidates the opportunity to discuss 2012 campaign issues with USM students, Senior College members and others. All are welcome. The event will be live-streamed on the Sun Journal’s website at www.sunjournal.com.

A reception with refreshments will begin at 6:30 p.m. with the candidate forum beginning at 7 p.m. After the forum there will be an opportunity for candidates to meet with voters.

The event is the 12th time USM LAC has hosted a state legislative forum. The USM LAC Student Government Association, the LAC Office of Community Engagement and Senior College at USM LAC are sponsoring the forum.

USM’s Lewiston-Auburn campus is at 51 Westminster St. in Lewiston. The event will be held in room 170. Directions are available at the website www.usm.maine/lac.
