Cookie poll more fun than serious for Lewiston baker

Grant's Bakery co-owner Doug Grant shows some of the presidential cookies the bakery was selling in the run-up to the 2012 election. The bakery offered Romney and Obama sugar cookies as part of a promotion. At the end of the day Tuesday, the Romney cookies had won decisively. The bakery sold 795 Romney cookies and 395 Obama cookies. Grant said they added a "none-of-the-above" cookie for those who didn't like either candidate. The bakery sold 25 of those. "I was thinking the election would go the way our cookie poll was going, but obviously that didn't happen," Grant said Wednesday. He said the bakery never took the tally too seriously. "It was fun. We had a lot of people talking about it and stuff, which made it fun for us."
