The word "HOPE" is illuminated on the front lawn of a funeral home hosting the wake of Sandy Hook Elementary School principal Dawn Lafferty Hochsprung in Woodbury, Conn., Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2012. Hochsprung was killed when Adam Lanza walked into Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Conn., Dec. 14, and opened fire, killing 26 people, including 20 children, before killing himself.
On Thursday, the North Turner Union Presbyterian Church plans a candlelight prayer service to honor the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting victims.
The service will be from 6 to 6:30 p.m. Members of the public, including children, are welcome, according to the Rev. Lissa Bradford.
The church is at 58 Howes Corner Road. Attendees will be invited to sign sympathy cards to be sent to the school.
The vigil isn't designed as a fundraiser.
"We just want to gather our community together to support theirs," Bradford said.
