BANGOR — A Maine karate instructor has pleaded guilty to sexually assaulting one of his students.

Wade Robert Hoover of Augusta pleaded guilty in federal court Tuesday to production of child pornography and possession of child pornography.
Federal prosecutors say the 35-year-old Hoover took two of his students to a cabin in The Forks Plantation last June and took pictures and video of himself sexually abusing an 11-year-old boy who had taken sleep medication.
Prosecutors say he also used Internet connection at the National Alliance on Mental Illness in Augusta where he worked to share child pornography images.
Hoover was owner and chief instructor at Koshowarrior's Martial Arts Academy in Lewiston.
He faces up to 30 years in jail at sentencing.
His public defender had no comment.
