LISBON — Freshman guard Breann Sautter hit one of her two free throws with six seconds remaining in overtime to lift Lisbon to a 52-51 triumph over Mt. Abram in the season-opener in girls' varsity basketball action Saturday evening.
The Greyhounds (1-0) were led by sophomore guard Mia Durgin with 21 points. Denise Thomas pitched in with a double-double of 14 points and 10 rebounds.
Senior guard MiKayla Luce led Mt. Abram with 20 points.
Oxford Hills 49, Lewiston 38
LEWISTON — Senior point guard Abby Eastman poured in 20 points to lead Oxford Hills to a 49-38 victory over Lewiston in KVAC girls' basketball action Saturday evening.
Junior guard Jenessa Talarico led the Blue Devils with 10 points.
Gray-New Gloucester 81, Yarmouth 38
GRAY — Sophomore forward Maria Valente led the pack with 21 points as Gray-New Gloucester marched to an 81-38 victory over Yarmouth in WMC girls' basketball action.
Stephanie Greaton pitched in with 17 points for the Patriots while Haylee Cote and Michele Dehetre added 13 and 12 points, respectively.
Junior Grace O'Donnell posted a team-high 12 points for the Clippers, while Sean Cahill contributed 10 points.
Mountan Valley 68, Winthrop 20
RUMFORD — Mountain Valley raced out to a 19-6 lead after the first quarter and raced to a 38-20 victory over Winthrop in girls MVC basketball action.
Darbi Brown led an even scoring attack for Mountain Valley with 12 points followed by Makenzie Gallant's 10 points. Addy Gorham and Jena Plourde each poured in eight points. Plourde also had eight rebounds. Brooke Dolloff added seven points and six steals. The Falcons had 20 steals in the win.
Randi Dennett led the Ramblers with six points while Gabby Stewart added four in the loss.
Buckfield 27, Valley 25
BUCKFIELD — Buckfield opened the game with a 9-0 run and held off a pesky Valley team for a 27-25 victory in girls basketball.
Mishell Mazon paced the Bucks with 10 points and 11 rebounds while Gabby Therriault tossed in eight. Teagan Lawyerson led all scorers with 18 points in the loss for the Cavaliers.
Lake Region 49, Poland 38
POLAND — Lake Region scored 19 points in the fourth quarter erasing an eight point half time deficit to down Poland, 49-38 in girls Western Maine Conference basketball.
Tiana-Jo Carter paced the Lakers with a triple double, registering 12 points, 13 rebounds, and ten blocks. The Knights were led by Michaella Arsenault with 16. Emily Bolduc added ten in the loss.
Leavitt 55, Lincoln 43
NEWCASTLE — Kristen Anderson posted a double-double with 22 points and 11 assists to lead Leavitt to a 55-43 win over Lincoln Academy.
Mariah Treadwell added 14 points and Chantel Eels 12 points for the Hornets. Leslie Sandefur led Lincoln Academy with 12 points.
Wiscasset 53, Telstar 32
BETHEL — Briana Goud scored the game-high 19 points as Wiscasset bounce Telstar with a 53-32 victory in a girls' basketball opener Friday.
The Wolverines took 28-16 lead by halftime. Alyssa Brands scored the team-high 14 points for the Rebels.
