Leavitt 57, Belfast 54
BELFAST — After a close contest the first three frames, Leavitt used a 21-16 fourth-quarter run to seal a narrow 57-54 win over Belfast.
Kristen Anderson led the undefeated Hornets (8-0) with 25 points, including three shots from beyond the arc. Bri DeGone chipped in 18 points.
Belfast (6-2) was paced by Lexi Nelligan with 21 points. Katrina Lapham added 16.
Carrabec 59, Winthrop 10
NORTH ANSON — Brooklyn Lewis, Emma Pluntke and Mickayla Willette led a group of 10 players to light the boards as Carrabec rolled to a 59-10 win over Winthrop in MVC girl's basketball action Thursday.
Lewis, Pluntke and Willette finished with eight points each for the Cobras (3-4) in a well-balanced attack.
The Ramblers (0-6) were led by Gabby Stewart with four points, while Shauna Carlson added three.
Spruce Mountain 27, St. Dom's 25
JAY — Spruce Mountain denied St. Dom's on the final possession of the game to escape with a 27-25 MVC girls' basketball victory.
Samantha Richards had 14 points and nine rebounds for the undefeated Phoenix (7-0), who used a 10-6 run in the third quarter to break an 11-11 halftime deadlock.
Vanese Barnes added four points, seven rebounds and three steals for Spruce Mountain. Kelly Pomerleau led all scorers with 15 points for St. Dom's (3-2).
Rangeley 61, Acadia Christian 0
BANGOR — Only three quarters of play were needed Thursday as Rangeley overwhelmed Acadia Christian 61-0 in Class D girls' basketball action.
Blayke Morin led the Lakers (4-0) with 12 points, while Abby Abbott chipped in with nine and Emina Gunic added eight. Taylor Esty and Jenny Abbott each contributed seven points.


I don't think...
...I've ever seen a shutout in basketball before, have you? Do I understand they played just three quarters - not that I think it wasn't justified.
