SALEM — Ian James scored 26 points and Amos Withee nailed five of Mt. Abram's eight 3-pointers Saturday night in a 65-52 MVC boys' basketball win over Carrabec.
Withee added 17 points for the Roadrunners (3-6). Troy Dunphy topped the Cobras (0-7) with 21 points. Richard Leighton chipped in 10.
Dirigo 75, Telstar 43
BETHEL — Class C champion Dirigo won its eighth straight game to start the season, trouncing Telstar, 75-42, on Saturday.
Riley Robinson led four players in double figures with 16 points, including two of Dirigo's eight 3-pointers. Robbie Babb added 15 points, Travis Frost 13 and Kaine Hutchins 12 for the Cougars (8-0). Mike DelDuca and Nick Mills scored 15 points apiece to pace Telstar (1-6).
Oak Hill 56, Wiscasset 47
WALES —Parker Asselin scored 25 points Saturday night and Oak Hill improved to the .500 mark in its initial MVC boys' basketball season, beating Wiscasset, 56-47.
Sam Morin added 14 points and Trever Samson 13 for the Raiders (4-4). Oak Hill trailed 25-24 at the half before inching ahead with a 16-10 third-period surge.
Buckfield sweeps Vinalhaven
VINALHAVEN — Buckfield completed a weekend sweep of Vinalhaven in EWC boys' basketball Saturday, pulling away for a 41-32 victory.
Tyler Goyette scored 18 points and Keenan Stockdale added 13, accounting for most of the offense for the Bucks (3-4). Buckfield used a 16-8 gain in the fourth quarter to get away from the Vikings.
The Bucks prevailed 35-28 in the Friday night game. Goyette led the way with 11 points.
Monmouth 50, Lisbon 31
LISBON —Junior forward Marcques Houston tossed 15 points to lead Monmouth to a 50-31 triumph over Monmouth in MVC boys' basketball action Saturday.
The Mustangs (4-3) led by a respectable 18-12 margin at the half. Houston controlled the paint and compiled many field goals from rebounds.
Brandon Goff added 14 points for the Mustangs.
Junior guard Tucker Brannon paced the Greyhounds (2-5) with 13 points. Mason Haley added 10.
York 64, Gray-NG 41
YORK —Senior center Aaron Todd scored a team-high 18 points to lift York to a 64-41 victory over Gray-New Gloucester in WMC boys' basketball action Saturday.
Sophomore guard Andreas Kariotis carried the Patriots with 22 points on seven field goals, including four from 3-point range, and four free throws in the losing effort.
Cape Elizabeth 57, Poland 47
POLAND —Sophomore guard Ethan Murphy and senior forward Chris Robicheaw recorded 15 points each as Cape Elizabeth cruised to a 57-47 victory over Poland in WMC boys' basketball action Saturday.
Junior guard C.J. Martin posted a game-high 22 points for the Knights (2-6).
Mtn. Valley 63, Spruce Mtn. 51
RUMFORD — Jake Theriault erupted for 34 points Saturday night, directing Mountain Valley to a 63-51 MVC boys’ basketball victory over Spruce Mountain.
Theriault scored 14 of his points at the free-throw line for the Falcons (6-1), who owned a 20-0 advantage at the stripe. Dom Haines added nine points. Scottie Hall led the Phoenix (4-4) with 21.
Bucks salvage split
VINALHAVEN — Buckfield held off a furious fourth-quarter rally by the Vinalhaven girls’ basketball team Saturday to earn a 40-37 EWC victory and salvage a split of the teams’ weekend series on the island.
Naudia Wesley scored 12 points to lead the Bucks (2-4). Buckfield led 37-20 at the end of the third quarter before Vinalhaven (4-4) rallied with a 17-3 run.
Vinalhaven cruised to a 44-29 win Friday night. Wesley topped the Bucks with 11.
Oxford Hills 56, Lawrence 37
PARIS — Oxford Hills held Lawrence to seven points in the first quarter and eight in the final period to prevail 56-37 in a KVAC girls’ basketball contest played on Friday night.
Abbie Eastman led the Vikings (6-2) with 13 points. Crystal West collected all 12 of her points on 3-pointers.
Cape Elizabeth 43, Poland 35
CAPE ELIZABETH —Marlo Dell’Aquila tabulated 16 points to lead Cape Elizabeth to a 43-35 victory over Poland in girls’ basketball action Saturday.
The Knights (3-5) were led by Emily Bolduc, who had 15 points, and Michaella Arseanult with a double-double of 11 points and 16 rebounds.
Leavitt/EL 4, Winslow 0
WINSLOW —Junior center Taylor Landry netted a pair of goals to lead Leavitt-Edward Little to a 4-0 victory over Winslow in girls’ ice hockey action Saturday.
Shelbea Russell was solid on defense for the Red Hornets (9-2) and initiated much of the offense for Leavitt-Edward Little.
