WINSLOW — Sophomore center Erica Lemieux netted the eventual game-winning goal only 9:01 into the contest on a power play as Lewiston coasted to a 3-0 victory over Winslow in girls’ ice hockey action Saturday.
The Blue Devils (13-3) thoroughly controlled the tempo of the game, outshooting the Black Raiders by a margin of 36-5. Junior forward Mikaela St.Laurent wrapped up the scoring with a tally 12:25 into the third frame.
Goalie Brianna Lajoie prevented five to earn the win in net for Lewiston.
Dirigo 57, St. Dom’s 34
DIXFIELD — Jessica Conant led all players with 22 points and Kelsey Hutchins was close behind with 20, leading Dirigo to a 57-34 victory over St. Dom’s in an MVC girls’ basketball tilt Saturday.
After a close first quarter, the Cougars (9-2) pulled away in the second, outscoring the Saints (6-5) 16-6.
Kelly Pomerleau had another stellar outing for St. Dom’s, finishing with 19 points, while Alexis Dwinell added 10.
Dirigo 70, St. Dom’s 29
DIXFIELD — Freshman guard Riley Robinson tickled the twines with a game-high 20 points as Dirigo crushed St. Dom’s 70-29 in MVC boys’ basketball action Saturday.
The Cougars (12-0) played evenly across all four quarters. Robbie Babb made nine field goals for 18 points, while Kaine Hutchins added 12 points on four field goals, including two from three-point range and a pair of free throws.
Junior center Matt Dyer paced the Saints (5-7) with 12 points on four field goals, including two from three-point range and a pair of free throws.
Monmouth 76, Carrabec 42
MONMOUTH — Drew McFaren and Billy Cummings recorded 15 points apiece as Monmouth drove to a 76-42 victory over Carrabec in boys’ basketball action Saturday.
The Mustangs (5-7) raced to a 40-17 halftime lead. Brandon Goff provided 14 points for Monmouth in a well-balanced offensive attack.
Spruce Mountain 67, Oak Hill 39
WALES — Scott Hall led four players in double figures with 14 points as Spruce Mountain’s balanced attack was too much for Oak Hill to handle in a 67-39 Phoenix win.
Andrew Darling (11), Peter Theriault (10) and Tyler Kachnovich (10) rounded out the top scoring threats for Spruce Mountain (7-6), which hit six 3-pointers in the win.
Derek Gamage led the Raiders (5-8) with 11 points, while Parker Asselin chipped in nine.
Boothbay 65, Mt. Abram 46
SALEM — Anthony DiMauro drained 20 points to lead Boothbay to a 65-46 triumph over Mt. Abram in boys’ basketball action Saturday.
Ian James scored a team-leading 14 points for Mt. Abram, while Amos Withee tossed three field goals from beyond the arc for nine points.
Mountain Valley 72, Lisbon 32
RUMFORD — Jake Theriault poured in 23 points and Adam Volkernick added 12 more as Mountain Valley jumped all over Lisbon, 72-32, in an MVC boys’ basketball game Saturday.
Ryan Stickney added eight more for the Falcons (9-3), who broke an 11-11 deadlock after the first quarter with a 22-6 run in the second to put the game out of reach.
Tucker Brannon and Nick Collins led the Greyhounds (2-10) with eight each.
Poland 53, Lake Region 48
NAPLES — C.J. Martin threw in 21 points and knocked down three 3-pointers as Poland shook off Lake Region, 53-48, in a boys’ basketball game Saturday.
Poland (3-9) built a slim 20-19 at halftime. Alan Young dropped in 14 points for the Knights.
Leavitt 3, Westbrook 0
AUBURN — Senior center Jacob Gladu registered the third goal of the contest on a power play to seal a 3-0 shutout victory for Leavitt over Westbrook in boys’ ice hockey action Saturday.
The Hornets (3-5-1) found the back of the net three times in the first period before hibernating for the next two frames.
Leavitt goalie Nick Allen turned away 14 shots to earn his second shutout victory in net this season for Leavitt.
Lewiston 8, Waterville 1
LEWISTON — Junior Kyle Lemelin scored a hat trick and two assists as Lewiston plowed the Purple Panthers under with an 8-1 victory Saturday.
The Blue Devils (6-2-1) were consistant on offense, scoring three goals in each of the first two periods. Ethan Melvin contributed to the offensive effort with three assists.
