AUGUSTA (AP) — After a big drop last week, gas prices in Maine are back on the rise.
Price-monitoring website MaineGasPrices.com reports Monday that the average retail price of gasoline in Maine has risen just over a penny in the past week to an average of $3.95.
Nationally, prices are going in the other direction. The national average that has fallen more than two cents per gallon in the last week to $3.79 per gallon.
Maine prices are now 42 cents per gallon higher than the same day one year ago and more than six cents per gallon higher than a month ago.

Something Wrong!
My family all lives in Maine and I live in Alabama. Yesterday I talked to my mother on the phone and asked her what the gas prices were up there. She told me $3.94 a gallon. At the time I had just drove by an Exxon station that is known for having the highest gas price in the area. It was $3.47 per gallon. I don't know about up in Maine, but here in Alabama when you buy gas the taxes included in a gallon are a city tax (.02 cpg) county tax (.03 cpg) state tax (.16 cpg). With all these taxes included in a gallon of gas and it still .47 cents lower than in Maine... yeah there is something wrong!!!!

There is no need for the gas prices to be as high as they are...Gas gouging...Screwing the customers...They should be ashamed of themselves...

Why is it that people think that the president has anything to do with setting gas prices? It has more to do with Wall Street and supply and demand than anything else. If you want to see prices go down use less of the stuff....get rid of that gas hungry truck or suv and buy an efficient vehicle. Most people won't change their ways so things will stay the same. People would rather complain and pay than acutally make a difference.
