FALMOUTH (AP) — A husband and wife accused of allowing high school students celebrating state championships in two sports to drink at their Falmouth, Maine, home have pleaded not guilty.
Barry and Paula Spencer are charged with nine counts of allowing a minor to possess or consume alcohol. Their arraignment was scheduled for Thursday, but their pleas were entered in advance so they were not required to be present.
The Portland Press herald says the charges stem from a June 16 party, the same day Falmouth High won state championships in baseball and lacrosse. Police say 75 to 100 teenagers attended.
Police were initially told there was no drinking but returned to find found teens drinking alcohol and smoking marijuana after officers stopped a carload of teenagers who'd been at the party.
