Police investigate fatal Stockton Springs shooting

STOCKTON SPRINGS — Maine State Police are investigating the fatal shooting of a 31-year-old man in the coastal town of Stockton Springs.

Spokesman Steve McCausland of the Public Safety Department says David Linscott of Brooks was shot at about 12:30 a.m. Saturday in the front yard of a house owned by 36-year-old Robert Tucker along U.S. Route 1. Linscott died at the scene of a single gunshot wound.

McCausland says friends of Linscott were with him at the time of the shooting. A short time afterward, they were located in Searsport and interviewed by police.

Investigators also interviewed Tucker. McCausland says the case remains under investigation and so far no charges have been filed.

Police do not know whether Tucker and Linscott knew each other.
