AUGUSTA (AP) — Maine's firearms deer hunting season is over, but muzzleloader season is just getting under way.
The state's muzzleloader season begins Monday and continues until Dec.1 across the state. A second one-week season runs from next Monday until Dec. 8 in a limited number of hunting districts.
Muzzleloader season was established in 1981, to follow the firearms season each year.
A muzzleloader is a gun that can loaded only through the muzzle and is capable of firing only a single charge.
