AUGUSTA — U.S. Sen. Angus King has hired a former Verizon official as his Maine state scheduler.
The independent says Paula Armstrong of Scarborough formerly served as director for Verizon business sales call centers in California, Washington and Oregon. Armstrong also was assistant to the vice president for Verizon call centers across the nation. In Maine, she has served on the Saco City Council, and Armstrong also worked for former Sen. William Hathaway of Maine. King also worked on Hathaway's Senate staff during the 1970s.
Armstrong will serve as the point of contact for all of King's scheduling requests within Maine. King says she'll play an instrumental role in connecting him with fellow Mainers at home.
The senator has announced a number of staff appointments during the past couple of weeks.
