STATEWIDE

More coverage

All Maine post offices will be closed on Saturday due to the snow storm. U.S. Postal Service officials say there will be no mail delivery. Normal post office hours of operation are expected to resume on Monday.

AMTRAK

Downeaster service is suspended Saturday morning. The southbound trains will resume service at 1:20 p.m., 3:45 p.m., 6:50 p.m. and 9:55 p.m. Saturdayfrom Portland. The southbound trains will leave Brunswick at 5:55 p.m. and 9:10 p.m. Saturday.

The northbound service will be suspended until the evening. Trains will depart Boston North Station at 5:40 p.m., 8 p.m., and 11 p.m. Saturday.

AUBURN

Taylor Pond Fishing Derby cancelled

AUBURN — The third annual Taylor Pond Fishing Derby has been cancelled because of the storm. It will not be rescheduled this year.

Full price of tickets will be refunded at point of purchase.

Auburn parking ban

AUBURN — A parking ban on city streets will be in effect until noon Sunday. All violators will be towed. Downtown residents are urged to use the Mechanics Row parking garage during the ban. Lost Valley reopens at 1 p.m.

AUBURN — Lost Valley will reopen at 1 p.m. Saturday. All Saturday lessons have been canceled.

Twin Cities bus service Citylink will be suspended Saturday due to the storm. Regular service is scheduled to return Monday.

FARMINGTON —The Saturday Ski and Snowboard Program scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday is canceled.

LEWISTON

'God of Carnage' performance cancelled Saturday, Feb. 9

LEWISTON -- L/A Community Little Theatre has announced the cancellation of tonight's performance of "God of Carnage" due to the storm. All tickets for Friday, Feb. 8 and Saturday, Feb. 9 performances will be honored for any of the remaining performances. If you are unable to attend any of the remaining performances, you can exchange your ticket for any future shows within the current season. To request another performance, provide your preferences by writing to boxoffice@laclt.com, calling 207-783-0958, or bring your ticket for a new night and CLT will take care of you.

CMMC lab, satellites closed Saturday

LEWISTON — The Central Maine Medical Center Outpatient Lab, on the ground floor of the 12 High St. medical office building, will be closed Saturday due to anticipated poor travel conditions. The lab will reopen 6:30 a.m. Monday.

Central Maine Pediatrics, Central Maine Family Medicine and Topsham Family Medicine, which staff Saturday hours for acute care patients, will also be closed Saturday.

The CMMC Emergency Department will remain open. 

Public Library closed

LEWISTON — The Public Library will be closed Saturday because of the storm. The library is normally closed Sundays and will reopen at 10 a.m.  Monday.

Student film competition rescheduled

LEWISTON — The student film competition scheduled for Saturday night in conjunction with the Lewiston Auburn Film Festival has been postponed because of inclement weather.

The competition will be held at 6 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 16, at USM’s Lewiston campus. For more details on films visit www.lafilmfestival.org or call 740-8800.

Legislative delegation hours cancelled

LEWISTON — The in-district office hours with the Lewiston legislative delegation scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 9,  at the Lewiston Public Library, have been cancelled.

Museum L-A closed Friday Saturday

LEWISTON — Museum L-A will be closed Saturday.  

The opening reception for The Way We Worked exhibition is rescheduled for 4-7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 15.  The traveling exhibition from The Smithsonian will be open for public viewing Monday, Feb. 11, with regular museum admission fees. The reception is free. Museum L-A is at 35 Canal St.

Lewiston landfill closed Saturday

LEWISTON — The city's solid waste facility/landfill, at 424 River Road, will be closed Saturday.

Super REFUND Saturday canceled

LEWISTON — The Super REFUND Saturday sponsored by the LA CA$H Coalition and slated for Saturday at the Lewiston Memorial Armory is canceled due to the snowstorm. The more than 200 residents who had scheduled free appointments are encouraged to call 513-3160 to reschedule.

LIVERMORE -- The Transfer Station is closed Saturday. It will open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday.

All post offices in Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont closed Saturday. No mail delivery. Normal service resumes Monday.

NORWAY

Snowshoe, String Festival canceled

NORWAY — The 2013 Mellie Dunham Snowshoe and String Festival on Saturday events have been cancelled. Some will be rescheduled to Sunday.

Snowshoe Festival events postponed

NORWAY — The family snowshoe races and games of the 2013 Snowshoe Festival is rescheduled for 10 a.m. to noon Sunday at Roberts Farm Preserve. 

The contra dances and public supper at the Grange scheduled for Saturday night will be postponed to a date to be determined.

The presentation on Norway’s snowshoe industries has been rescheduled to 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 15, at Fare Share Gallery.

Portland polar dip postponed

PORTLAND — The Maine Polar Dip to benefit Camp Sunshine, scheduled for Saturday at East End Beach, has been postponed due the snowstorm. The charity event, which draws participants from across southern, central and coastal Maine, has been rescheduled for Saturday, March 2, at Portland’s East End Beach at noon.

WILTON --The Wilton Transfer Station will be closed Saturday.  The Transfer Station will reopen at 8 a.m. Sunday.
