HARTFORD, Conn. — Amtrak says it's suspending service in New York and New England before a major snow storm hits the region.
Beginning Friday, southbound service from Boston South Station will be suspended following the departures of a Northeast Regional train at 1:40 p.m. and Acela Express at 1:15 p.m.
Northbound service from New York's Penn Station will be suspended at 12:30 p.m. and the Acela Express at 1:03 p.m.
Shuttle service between Springfield, Mass., and New Haven, Conn., will be suspended at 10:30 a.m.
Vermonter service also is canceled in each direction between Springfield and St. Albans, Vt.
And Downeaster service is suspended from Brunswick, Maine, at 7:05 a.m. The last northbound departure from Boston North Station is scheduled for 1 p.m.
Connecting service between Albany, N.Y., and Boston to the Lakeshore Limited also is canceled.
