Former Gov. John Baldacci says he is considering running for governor again and will decide in April.
PORTLAND — Former two-term Maine Gov. John Baldacci says he'll decide around April whether to run again for governor in the 2014 election.
The former Democratic governor last month said he was considering challenging Republican Gov. Paul LePage because he's concerned about what he called the negativism of LePage's leadership style.
Baldacci told the Portland Press Herald (http://bit.ly/14ULlsh ) before speaking at the Portland Regional Chamber's breakfast meeting Thursday that he expects to make a decision in the April timeframe.
He said no matter who runs, Maine needs somebody who will serve as a strong advocate and cheerleader for the state. He said LePage's "negative outbursts" are a distraction from the issues facing Maine.

Mr. B has a much higher opinion of himself than do the majority of Maine voters. This time around he would not have Tobacco Settlement or "stimulus" funds to suck into his bloated welfare budgets, and the liquor contract will have been renegotiated already, so he would have to find new gimmicks or leave more unpaid bills like the hospitals to balance his budget. Career political hack, period.

This isn't a beauty contest! It's a job that requires strength and courage to make tough decissions that Baldi simply could not make! Baldacci HID our biggest problems within the numbers instead of telling us (the voters) about them.
