BANGOR — Two inmates who escaped from a minimum security Maine prison last summer have had an additional two years tacked on to their sentences.
Phillip Gardiner of Bangor and Randall Moulton of Belfast each pleaded guilty Monday to escape charges and received two-year sentences.
The 25-year-old Gardiner also pleaded guilty to a burglary charge for breaking into a convenience store after escaping.
The men escaped in July from Charleston Correctional Facility and were recaptured three days later in Glenburn, about 20 miles away.
Prisons officials say the 20-year-old Moulton and Gardiner were in prison for burglary and other charges. Moulton was scheduled to be released this year and Gardiner in 2014.
