CANTON — Wilfrid A. Giroux, 86, of Oxford passed away Tuesday, Jan. 24, at Victorian Villa Rehab. and Living Center.
He was born in Lewiston, June 6, 1925, to Willie and Anita (Huard) Giroux.
Wilfrid proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1951 to 1962, where he was assigned to the USS Pasadena.
He worked for many years as a financial officer in the General Electric Financial Department.
He was a member of the American Legion, VFW, former member of the budget committee in Oxford and he enjoyed being involved in town affairs. He and Beverly loved to travel and were able to visit all the lower 48 states, Mexico and Canada.
He is survived by his wife of 21 years, Beverly (Leland); his daughters, Janelle Hollis and husband, James, of North Smithfield, R.I., and Carol Gunville and husband, Michael, of San Jose, Calif.; nine stepchildren; three grandchildren, Lori Pihl, Eric Pihl and Cole Hollis; one great-grandchild, Abby Pihl; sister-in-law, Georgette Giroux of New York; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents; and brother, Laureat.
