Michael T. Goff

AUBURN — Michael T. Goff, 64, of 9 Weaver St., Auburn, passed away Friday, March 16, following a long illness, surrounded by family and friends.

He was born in Portland on Feb 9, 1948, the son of Michael A. and Barbara (Walton) Goff. Mike attended St. Patrick's School and Lewiston High School, graduating in 1966.

On March 25, 2006, Mike married Julie Ouellette and became a stepfather of three children.

He was employed by Sprinkler Systems, Inc., of Lewiston, from the summer of 1973, being one of its first employees; paid $1 an hour and matched $1 and hour through a government program. He started as a pipe fitter and later became the first licensed sprinkler systems inspector for the state of Maine. Mike's candor earned him ambassadorship for Sprinkler Systems, Inc.

Mike was known as the lead singer in a local popular rock band started by Roger Blais and Larry Nadeau Caswell, The InnKeepers. They were well-known during the PAL Hop era, from 1964  to 1967, with gigs extending to Boston, New Hampshire, New York and Canada, and opening for the Four Seasons, Gary Lewis & the Playboys, and Mitch Ryder & His Review, to name a few. Mike made his last stage appearance Aug 14, 2010, during a PAL Hop Rocks Again reunion held at the Andro Bank Colisee in Lewiston.

He also played hockey for the Koss team of the Industrial Hockey League in the early 1970s.

Mike enjoyed being fit. He was known for frequent cycling and hiking of Mt. Washington, N.H.

Through the years of 1980 to 1987, Mike participated in triathlons as the cyclist with Paul Dionne and Tom Lahey canoeing, and Ron Boutin (RB) running.

In addition to Mike's love for music and fitness, he also enjoyed traveling to Ireland and the islands along the Caribbean; with Virgin Gorda being his favorite destination.

Mike will be sadly missed by his wife, Julie; stepchildren, Danielle Ouellette and companion, Eric Brothers, of New Hampshire, and Nicole and Steven Ouellette of Auburn; mother-in-law, Irene Nault, of Lewiston; and many friends and fans.
