Alton 'Hoppy' Gerald Harrington, Sr.

WINTHROP — Alton “Hoppy” Gerald Harrington, Sr., 76, of Winthrop, formerly of Lewiston, passed away May 15 at the Heritage Living Center & Rehabilitation.

He was born June 23, 1935, the son of Richard and Nancy Jane (Baker) Harrington. He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Following his service, he worked as a contractor and roofer for many years.

He leaves behind his loving wife Ruth Harrington; three children, Alton “Peter” G. Harrington, Jr., Pennie Willard and Geraldine Israel; five step-children, Roxanne Decker, Bonnie Fluery, Pamela Hardy, Dianna Brooks and Simone Morin; seven grandchildren including  grandson Mark Leslie Harrington Leighton who remained by his side until the end; many great grandchildren; a great-great grandchild; his three brothers, David, Bobby and Raymond; and his two sisters, Mary and Mildred.

He was pre-deceased by a son Ronald Mark Harrington, two  stepchildren, Carroll Decker and Joanne McMahon; a brother, Richard “Sonny;” and a sister, Beverly.
