Mary Anne M. Knight

NORWAY — Mary Anne M. Knight, 65, of Carthage passed away Wednesday, May 23, at Stephens Memorial Hospital in Norway.

She was born in Columbia Falls on May 22, 1947, the daughter of Gordon E. and Gloria M. (Guptil) Dorr. She attended schools in Wilton, Jay and Norridgewock.

Mary married Edward Towers Sr. and then later married Vernon C. Knight Sr. who passed away in 2001. She met Fred Hutchinson in 2004, and he was her companion and caregiver for the past eight years.

Mary enjoyed going to the races, doing crosswords, caring for her pets, playing cards and watching the Red Sox.

Mary is survived by her daughter, Angela Williams and her husband, Rodney Jr., of Oakland; six sons, Edward E. Towers Jr., James L. Towers, Adam Knight, Brian W. Knight, Vernon C. Knight Jr. and Mark Towers; 35 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; her sister, Linda Drouin; her brothers, Irving and Gary Dorr, Buddy, Lindwood Jr. and Ray Floyd; many nieces, nephews and cousins; and her companion, Fred Hutchinson.

Mary was predeceased by her husband Vernon; a daughter, Diane Knight; a granddaughter, Aubree Knight; a grandson, Christopher J. Staples; two sisters, Donna Churchill and Eva Pease; and a brother, Greg Dorr.
