Sulo A. Pulkkinen

AUBURN — Sulo A. Pulkkinen, 89, died in Auburn, June 12, at the Hospice House.

Sulo was born in Oxford, May 17, 1923, the son of Kalle and Anna Maria (Niskanen) Pulkkinen.

On Jan. 15, 1943, he married Eleanor A. Fortier of Otisfield, whom he made a home with for 69 years.

He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in South Paris. He served in World War II with the 5th Army in Italy, and received two Purple Hearts.

Besides his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Karen Pulkkinen and her husband, Leland Faulkner; his granddaughter, Nika Faulkner; brother, Herbert Pulkkinen; and sisters, Senja Grover and Miriam Pecevich.

He was predeceased by brothers, Carl Pulkkinen and Willard Pulkkinen.

His family wishes to extend thanks to all the staff of Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice, as well as the Hospice House.
