Joseph J. Ruby Jr.

AUGUSTA — Joseph J. Ruby Jr., 77, formerly of Hallowell, went home to be with the Lord Wednesday, Sept. 5, at MaineGeneral Rehabilitation and Nursing Care Center at Glenridge following a brief illness.

He was born in Lisbon, April 4, 1935, a son of the late Joseph J. Ruby Sr. and Dolly (Hunnewell) Ruby.

Mr. Ruby was a graduate of Lisbon High School, Class of 1953, and was a member of the Family Worship Center, Church of God and was a part of the Jail Ministry for 13 years.

He was the owner/operator of Ruby Contractors Inc. for 35 years, where he worked together with his two sons.

Mr. Ruby is survived by his wife of 56 years, Betty (Worster) Ruby of Augusta; a son, James Ruby of Vassalboro; five daughters, Dolly Lagasse of Augusta, Pauline Hayden of Starks, Susan Ruby Hanson of Bingham, Diane Nesman of Bolton, Mass., and Linda Green of Augusta; a stepson, Thomas Thorndike of Augusta; two brothers, George Ruby of Lisbon and David Ruby of Fairfield; a sister, Diantha Landry of Lisbon; 16 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
