Dorothy I. Waugh

MEXICO — Dorothy I. Waugh, 96, of Kimball Avenue in Mexico, died peacefully on Thursday, Sept. 20, at her home.

She was born in Jay, Nov. 4, 1915, a daughter of Thomas and Marie (LaCroix) Dube, and was one of 14 children.

Dorothy was educated in Jay schools and was a graduate of Jay High School and attended college in Boston.

She was a private secretary for the mill manager at Oxford Paper Co. for 20 years. Dorothy was also a tax preparer for the Oxford County Tax Service until the age of 80.

She was a communicant of St. Theresa’s Catholic Church and later the Parish of the Holy Savior. She was a member of the Ladies of St. Anne and the Greater Rumford Senior Citizens Center. She was an avid card player and loved doing the daily crossword puzzle and watching Jeopardy.

Family was important to Dorothy and she loved spending time with each and every one of them.

Surviving are her children, Barbara Laramee of Mexico, John Waugh and partner, Gil, of Brunswick, David Waugh and wife, Janet, of Boone, N.C., and Lorraine Cyr of Rumford; 17 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and many great-great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her parents; her husband, John H. Waugh in 1989; a son, Greg Waugh; two daughters, Jackie LaChapelle and Carol Pratt; eight brothers; and five sisters.
