Marie R. Cote

RUMFORD — Marie R. Cote, 81, of Knox Street died Tuesday, Oct. 9, at Rumford Hospital following a long illness with loving family at her side.

She was born in Rumford, Feb. 28, 1931, a daughter of Thomas and Rose (DesRoches) Richard.

Marie was employed for a few years at IP, and then worked as a waitress at J.J. Newberry’s and later as a nanny for several local families because of her love for children.

She was a communicant of Parish of the Holy Savior. Marie loved spending time with her children and grandchildren, enjoyed playing poker with family and friends, and enjoyed her trips to Las Vegas.

Surviving are her children, Ann Marie Welch of Rumford and Michael Cote of Rumford; two sisters, Yvonne McHale of Florida, and Doris Martineau of Mexico; four grandchildren, Kris Welch, Brian Welch, David Daigle and Diane Frazel; seven great-grandchildren, Caden Welch, Brandon Daigle, Mckenzie Daigle, Kaydence Daigle, Holden Blauvelt, and Abigail and Hunter Blauvelt; her godson, Randy Martineau; and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents; her husband, Maurice J. Cote; and two brothers, Joseph, Archie and René Richard.
