Irene Y. Gregoire

LEWISTON — Irene Y. Gregoire, 82, of Martel Street, Lewiston, died peacefully Sunday, Oct. 28, at d’Youville Pavilion.

Irene Y. Gregoire

She was born March 23, 1930, in Hartford, Conn., the daughter of Hermenegilde and Yvonne (Dubois) Gregoire and was educated in Lewiston schools.

She was employed at Continental Mill and Knapp Shoe and later retired from Hannaford Supermarket in Lewiston. Irene greatly enjoyed spending time with her family. From road trips around New England in the fall, to cheering on her nephews and great-nephews at winter hockey games, Irene was an integral part of all family functions. On most summer days, Irene could be found at her family’s restaurant, Val’s Rootbeer Drive-In, helping with any number of jobs or just keeping her relatives entertained with her stories.

Irene is survived by her sister-in-law, Jeannette Gregoire of Lewiston; her nieces and nephews, Gail Lawrence, Gene Gregoire, Karen Alexander, Gina Field, David Gregoire, Gloria Dooley, Roger Bernard and Donald Bernard; as well as many great-nieces and nephews, cousins and close friends.

Irene was predeceased by her parents; her brothers, Roland Bernard, Roland Gregoire and Val Gregoire; and an infant sister, Laurette.

The family requests that online condolences may be sent to irenegregoire@yahoo.com.
