LEWISTON — Dorothy Mae French, 94, formerly of Livermore Falls and Chesterville, died Nov. 27, at Marshwood Center Nursing Home, where she had been a resident for more than four years.
She was born in Manchester, N.H., Oct. 24, 1918, daughter of Richard and Mary E. Hayes and stepdaughter of Theodore Moser. Dorothy lived in Manchester and Keene, N.H., for several years and then moved to Livermore Falls with her mother at a young age. She graduated from Livermore Falls High School in 1937. Ms French was a homemaker until 2008.
She was the widow of Wallace H. French and was a Gold Member of Ruth Chapter 16, Order of the Eastern Star, having been a member for more than 50 years.
She is survived by her cousins, Bernard O. Schnaudt of New Jersey, Jane Rideout, Martin Rocheleau and Marguerite Gosselin, all of New Hampshire, Gloria Brown of Massachusetts, and Claudett LaClerc of Arizona.
