Irene C. Lamarche

LISBON — Irene C. Lamarche of Lisbon, died Dec. 1, at the age of 82, at The Lamp Residential Care Facility.

She was born in Woonsocket, RI., June 4, 1930, the daughter of Alphonse and Roseanna Fontaine Lamarche. She was educated in Rhode Island schools, graduating from Woonsocket High School in 1950. She continued her education at the New Hampshire Hospital in Concord, N.H., graduating in 1957. She furthered her career attending St. Joseph's College in Windham, where she received her BSPA degree majoring in Psychology.

In 1957, she traveled with some of her classmates and worked at the University Hospitals in Cleveland, Ohio. Later returning to Maine, she worked at CMGH as head nurse in pediatrics. In 1963, she worked as Director of Nursing for 35 years and then as administrator of The Lamp Nursing Home for four more years before retiring from nursing.

Following retirement, she purchased and operated the Shamrock RV Park in Biddeford for 12 years with her business associate.

Among her interests were gardening, traveling in her motor home and meeting new friends, photography and especially socializing. She had a wonderful sense of humor and had gathered many friends over the years. She especially loved and enjoyed her adopted dogs and cats.

She is survived by her brother, Robert and his wife, Rose, of Blackstone, Mass.; nieces, Diana and her husband, Mike, of Woonsocket, R.I.; special cousins, Margaret and her husband, Roland Dubois, of Windham, Conn., and Anita and her husband, Bob Damstrom, of Sutton, Mass.; her adopted family and longtime friend and business associate, Shirley Quinlan of Lisbon and Lillian and her husband, Norman Karkos; as well as niece, Carol and husband, Mark Wood and daughter, Abigail Wood, of Mechanicsville, Md.; Norman Karkos of Poland; and Andrew Karkos and son, Harland, of Jacksonville Fla.

She was predeceased by her parents; and sister, Estelle of Cumberland R.I.
